The Simple Things
Last Friday evening, I hurried home from work and went straight to the restroom to start getting dressed for harvestors church service. I rushed past my amazing Father who greeted me with a "Hola, I made tuna sandwiches!" I mumbled "not hungry," as I plugged in the curling iron with one thing on my mind...ME!!!
As I was curling my hair in the restroom, my dad sat in the living room eating his tuna sandwich (alone) shoots for some more
small talk by asking, "How was work?" Clearly I wasn't in the mood to chat so I rolled my eyes and gave him one word. "Fine!"
After 10 minutes of (so I thought) beautiful silence...
BLACK OUT!
Every light shut out and the entire house was pitch black.
I screamed, "DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!" Immediatley my father answered, "Im right here, dont worry."
My dad was by my side quicker than I could blink, and I thought to myself, "Did he forget how rude I was just acting toward him?"
Those
simple words, and this
simple action sunk deep within my heart.
"Im right here, dont worry."
Day after day we get caught up in our busy lives and we rush past God, turn away His blessings, and ignore the
small talk He desires of us.
Day after day.
In the moment of a crisis we seem to cry out to our heavenly DAD and immediatley our Father answers, "Im right here, dont worry." At the moment of repentance, God is right by our side and forgives us of all our sinfulness. Even though we are far from deserving this kind of "royal treatment" God has one thing on His mind, "YOU!"
Psalm 51:“Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow … Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” verses 6-7, 10
Those simple words, and the simple actions are not so simple to God.
Quote of the day...
Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again. - Og Mandino
